Traffic forecast for 21 June 2026
Have a safe and pleasant journey!
Traffic forecast for the Antifascist Struggle Day – extended weekend from June 20th to June 22nd 2026The public holiday Antifascist Struggle Day is on Monday June 22nd this year. This means most people will add another day to the previous weekend. With school ending on June 12th, a big number of drivers heading for an extended weekend or vacation is expected. This is why, on June 19th 2026, during the afternoon, very heavy traffic is expected on most roads, especially on Zagreb city roads and exits, as well as on the following routes:• A1 Zagreb – Ploče – Karamatići motorway;• A6 Rijeka-Zagreb motorway towards the coast;• A3 Zagreb bypass road from the Zagreb zapad and Buzin junctions towards the Lučko toll station;• A2 Zagreb-Macelj motorway towards Zagreb (especially near the Trakošćan toll station) • A3 Bregana-Lipovac motorway in both directions• A7 Rijeka bypass road and the access road to the Učka tunnel;• Krk bridge;• DC1 Zagreb – Karlovac – Knin – Split state road;• DC8 Adriatic road.In the case of heavier traffic on motorways, in front of tunnels, there is a possibility of additional traffic regulations that may slow down and occasionally stop vehicles to prevent jams in tunnels that could additionally endanger drivers. At most border crossings, especially the ones with Bosnia and Herzegovina, increased inbound traffic is expected.Occasional waiting, jams and delays are possible at the Lučko toll stations in direction Karlovac and at the Zaprešić (A2), Zagreb istok (A3) and Sveta Helena (A4) toll stations in direction Zagreb. There is a possibility of increased traffic and longer waiting times at most border crossings with Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially at the Gornji Varoš, Maljevac, Jasenovac, Hrvatska Dubica, Hrvatska Kostajnica, Slavonski Brod and Županja border crossings, occasionally in both directions, and at certain border crossings with Serbia (Bajakovo) and Montenegro (Karasovići). Alternative border crossings like Tovarnik, Ilok I & II, Erdut and Batina are recommended. Check real-time border conditions before your trip—you might arrive sooner via a slightly longer route with shorter wait times on the border.During the extended weekend, heavy traffic is expected towards coastal tourist destinations, especially in Istria, Kvarner, and Dalmatia. Expect occasional delays in roadwork zones and areas with temporary traffic regulation. Ferry ports and piers to the islands will also experience increased vehicle inflow.Monday June 22nd, on the day of the holiday, heavy traffic is expected during the afternoon and night towards the interior part of the country, especially on the A1 Zagreb - Ploče – Karamatići motorway and on the A6 Rijeka – Zagreb motorway, as well as on the DC1 state road between Karlovac and Zagreb. Traffic jams and long queues are likely on the A1 motorway from Ogulin through Bosiljevo to Karlovac, as well as at the Lučko and Demerje toll stations, motorway rest areas and tunnels. On the DC102 state road, along the Krk island, there is a real possibility of jams and queues towards the bridge.Inform yourself on the latest traffic status before starting your trip, and definitely take into consideration the alternative routes upon return. On the last day of the extended weekend, it is best to travel before noon. Starting from noon, traffic will steadily increase.Be aware of the fact that travel organization and informing yourself on traffic is entirely dependent on the driver and the passenger. Make sure to have enough water and food in case you end up stuck in traffic, especially if travelling with smaller kids. Simply, during extended and summer weekends, it is no surprise that traffic is heavy. To avoid traffic jams, try to travel during the night or choose a less busy day.Because of this extended weekend, a traffic ban will be imposed for all freight vehicles with a maximum total weight exceeding 7.5t on certain roads (not including motorways and the DC1 state road), and put into effect on the following dates:• Friday, June 19th, from 3pm to 11pm• Saturday, June 20th, from 4am to 2pm• Sunday, June 21st, from 12pm to 11pm• Monday, Antifascist Struggle Day, June 22nd, from 12pm to 11pm.
