Traffic flow and road conditions

Due to strong wind on the part of the DC8 Adriatic road Novi Vinodolski-Senj there is a traffic ban on: doubledeckers, trailers and motorcycles.

In the rest of the country weather conditions are favourable.

Traffic is dense in cities and on their bypass roads.

During the day difficulties may occur in roadwork areas:

in Istria on the A8 highway between the Učka tunnel and Učka junction in both directions.

Drivers are invited to adjust the way of driving and the speed to road conditions and to keep distance!

Traffic restrictions:

A1 Zagreb-Ploče-Dubrovnik motorway:

until 21 May between the Novigrad and Karlovac junctions at the Dobra viaduct 49th-48th km in direction Zagreb traffic is flowing in reduced lanes - delays should be expected;
7 May 10pm-4am traffic is suspended between the Otočac and Perušić junctions in both directions, detour: DC52/DC50 state roads;

A3 Bregana-Lipovac motorway:

until 9 May roadwork is in progress at the Lučko junction from direction Zagreb (Jadranska avenija) towards the Zagreb zapad junction as well as from direction Bregana towards Zagreb-jug junction/Lipovac;
until 6 June at the Lučko junction (Kalinovo viaduct) in direction Bregana trafic is flowing in reduced lanes;
until 1 June at the Kraljeva Velika jug (Lipovljani) rest area the parking surfaces are closed, until 10 June at the Kraljeva Velika sjever rest area;

A4 Zagreb-Goričan motorway:

until 9 May between the Sesvete and Zagreb istok junctions 93rd-96th km one lane is free only in direction Zagreb, in direction Goričan traffic is flowing in reduced lanes;
until 30 April traffic is suspended at the entrance of Zagreb istok junction (from direction Otok Svibovski towards Zagreb/Slavonska avenija and towards Bregana/Split/Rijeka), detour: A3 motorway-Otok Svibovski junction-Zagreb istok junction-U-turn-Zagreb istok junction;

A6 Rijeka-Zagreb motorway:

until 15 May at the Orehovica junction traffic is suspended in the exit lane from direction Zagreb towards Trsat (Rijeka centar) detour: Čavle junction-ŽC5205-DC3-Rijeka-Rijeka istok junction (A7)-DC404-Rijeka;
until 8 May traffic is suspended at the exit of Vrbovsko junction towards Zagreb, detour: Ravna Gora junction;

A7 Rupa-Rijeka-Žuta Lokva motorway:

at 41st km in direction Rupa one lane is free only (driving speed limit of 40 km/h);

A8/A9 motorway in Istria:

between the Učka tunnel and Matulji (Učka) junction there is a traffic ban on vehicles wider than 3 m and longer than 22 m in both directions;

DC1 state road:

until 31 May traffic is closed on the section Gračac-Knin at the Stara Straža viaduct, detour for passenger traffic/vehicles up to 7,5 tonnes: Žagrović;
until 30 April at Brnaze one lane is free only;

DC62 Ravča-Vrgorac state road:

until 16 May traffic is closed;

DC512 Makarska-Ravča state road:

due to rock sliding traffic is suspended on the at the Stupica tunnel towards Vrgorac.

Border crossings

Until 31 December 2026 at the Erdut-Bogojevo border crossing there is a traffic ban on freight vehicles exceeding 7,5 tonnes.

The Gunja-Brčko border crossing is closed for all traffic, detour: Županja-Orašje border crossing.

At the Ilok-Bačka Palanka bridge traffic is allowed for vehicles up to 24 tonnes (driving speed limit of 30 km/h).

Starting 3 Junly 2023 international traffic is possible at the Slivno-Drinovačko Brdo border crossing.

Transit freight traffic is suspended at the Tovarnik/Šid border crossing, detour: Bajakovo border crossing.

Traffic is suspended for vehicles whose maximum weight exceeds 7,5 tonnes at the Pribanjci-Vinica border crossing on the DC204 state road.

The Dvor and Vitaljina border crossings are open for pedestrians and passenger traffic only.

The border crossings for the international maritime traffic are: Umag, Pula, Mali Lošinj, Vis, Ubli and Cavtat (Book of Regulations on border crossings of the Republic of Croatia, pubblished at the Narodne novine, 2 January 2023).

Border wait times

There are no longer delays at most of the Croatian border crossings.

Ferry traffic

In ferry traffic there are no difficulties.

30 April Zadar-Molat-Brgulje-Zapuntel-Ist catamaran departs at 5pm (insteat at 1.05pm).

Border crossings for international maritime passenger and goods traffic are: Rijeka, Ploče, Zadar, Šibenik, Split, Dubrovnik and Raša-Bršica, for passenger traffic only: Umag, Pula, Mali Lošinj, Vis, Ubli and Cavtat (Regulation on border crossings of Republic of Croatia, pubblished at Narodne novine, 2 January 2023).

- between Novska and Sunja railway stations on the rail Zagreb-Sisak-Novska,

- between Solin and Split Predgrađe railway stations on the rail Oštarije-Knin-Split,

- between Vinkovci and Županja railway stations on the rail Vinkovci-Županja,

- between Zvečaj and Oštarije railway stations on the rail Zagreb-Rijeka,

- between Deanovec and Popovača railway stations on the rail Dugo Selo-Novska,

- between Križevci and Sveti Ivan Žabno railway stations,
- between Čakovec and Macinec railway stations,

- between Duga Resa, Karlovac and Bubnjarci railway stations.

One lane is free only:

- between Staro Petrovo Selo and Nova Gradiška railway stations on the rail Novska-Tovarnik-state border 7.30am-2.20pm.

Driving restrictions for heavy goods vehicles

Summer restrictions on freight vehicles

15 June-15 September there are traffic restrictions on freight vehicles heavier than 7,5 tonnes on Saturdays 4am-2pm, on Sundays noon-11pm and on holidays 3pm-11pm on the following roads:

- DC8-DC40 Bakar junction-Zadar-Split-Klek border crossing-Zaton Doli border crossing-Dubrovnik-Karasovići border crossing (except on the part DC27-Šibenik bridge-Šibenik-DC58, Bilice roundabout at Solin-Stobreč);

- DC9-Metković-Opuzen-DC8;

- DC21 Kaštel border crossing-Buje-Kanfanar junction (except on the part DC21 Kanfanar-Pula-DC66);

- DC23 Žuta Lokva-Senj;

- DC39-A1-Šestanovac roundabout-DC8-Dupci;

- DC66 Pula junction (A9)-Raša-Opatija-DC8;

- DC200 Buje (DC21)-Plovanija border crossing;

- DC300 Buje (DC21)-Umag;

- Ž5002 Novigrad-Tar-Poreč-Vrsar (DC21);

- Split ferry port;

- Zadar ferry port.

Traffic restrictions for transit freight vehicles through Croatia:

For freight vehicle exceeding 7,5 tonnes there is a traffic ban on the DC414 state road from DC8-DC414 intersection to Prapratno junction as well as from Prapratno junction to Komarna junction (Pelješac bridge and its access roads).

According to the Book of regulations for public road transit traffic, freight vehicles heavier than 7,5 tonnes without a trailer/with a trailer longer than 14 m are allowed to use the following roads:

Weather conditions will be favourable.

Traffic will be dense in cities and on their bypass roads as well as on some motorway sections.

Difficulties may also occur in roadwork areas.

In freight traffic there can be delays at most border crossings with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro, especially at: Bajakovo, Tovarnik, Svilaj, Županja, Stara Gradiška and Batina.

In ferry traffic there should be no difficulties.
